Why Are Dental Cleanings Important?
Even if you are brushing and flossing your teeth perfectly at home, it is still beneficial to have a dental cleaning at NowDental of Suffolk twice a year. Using state-of-the-art equipment, a biannual professional cleaning eliminates tartar and plaque and polishes the enamel for a brighter, healthier smile. During your treatment, our team can provide you tips on ways to better clean your teeth at home and let you know if there are any areas that need special care. A dental cleaning will give our periodontists the opportunity to look for any problem areas in the mouth that may need care. We encourage Suffolk County, Bay Shore, and Coram, NY families to reach out to our Smithtown office to schedule teeth cleanings for the whole family.
Who Should Have Dental Cleanings?
The ADA (American Dental Association) recommends patients have a professional cleaning twice a year. Following your child's first birthday, we can help you determine when your child is ready for an appointment. A cleaning may prevent cavities since built-up plaque, the main reason for tooth decay, is removed. A dental cleaning will also address tartar and stains on your enamel. If you want to freshen your breath, brighten your smile, improve your overall health, and save money in the long run, schedule a cleaning for your whole family at NowDental of Suffolk.
What Should I Expect from My Teeth Cleaning?
A professional cleaning starts by removing the plaque and tartar deposits on your enamel, which can be difficult to treat on your own with just daily brushing and flossing. Special instruments are used to carefully scale buildup without affecting the enamel. To start, a device with ultrasonic technology addresses large areas of tartar and plaque with a lubricating mist and high-speed vibrations. Next, handheld instruments, such as a scaler or curette, are used to remove any remaining buildup. Each tooth will be scaled to get all the plaque and tartar. After your teeth have been cleaned, your enamel will be polished to strengthen the enamel and remove stains. If requested or needed, a professional fluoride treatment may be performed after the cleaning.
NowDental of Suffolk Reviews
Courteous and caring office. Had a cleaning and check up and was very happy
I called on Tuesday had X-rays, talked to dentist and had a thorough cleaning by Friday. I am terrified of the dentist!!!!! Haven’t been to the dentist since right before Covid. Erica was my dental hygienist and she made my teeth picture worthy. She listened to me and was fantastic. If I had her years ago I might not be such a scaredy cat 🙀. This is my first experience with NowDental, I’m totally satisfied and will continue my dental journey with them.
Had a cleaning and it was very pleasant. Hygienist is very gentle and thorough
My teeth cleaning went so fast I haven’t been to the dentist in at least 4 years. I am happy with the hygienist and the dentist. I have a height phobia that went away immediately too. All the staff are friendly and understanding.
The hygienist would give me breaks when cleaning my teeth to make sure I was ok. He would talk to me to make me feel comfortable since I told him I hate the dentist! He kept saying my teeth were very clean! The dentist answered all my questions that I had plus the questions I had about my 7 year old son that I was worried about! The wait time for the dentist took a few, but it was a holiday and only one dentist there.
