What Are Porcelain Veneers?
One quick method to enhance your smile and hide crooked, chipped, stained, or decayed teeth is using porcelain veneers at NowDental of Suffolk. Cosmetic veneers are thin shells created out of porcelain, which are bonded to the front of the teeth to enhance the overall look of your smile. Offering personalized and minimal-prep veneers to Suffolk County, Long Island, and Coram, NY patients, our team can help improve the color, size, length, or shape of teeth. Schedule an appointment at our Smithtown, NY office to find out more about porcelain veneers to decide if they're right for your needs.
Am I A Good Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
Cosmetic veneers can be used to quickly hide chips and stains in your teeth, improve worn down or misaligned teeth, and fix teeth that are abnormally spaced or shaped. At NowDental of Suffolk, your porcelain veneers will be custom made to fit comfortably over your teeth for an appealing and natural look. During your consultation, we will listen to your goals and concerns so we can personalize your procedure. It's important that your mouth is in good general health in order for this procedure to be beneficial. You shouldn't have signs of periodontal disease or routinely clench your jaw and grind your teeth.
What Happens When Getting Porcelain Veneers?
When you have decided on your personalized treatment plan, someone from our team will take digital dental impressions. Your porcelain veneers may be produced in our office as you wait or the impressions could be sent to a dental lab where your custom veneers will be made from high-quality porcelain. As soon as your custom veneers are prepared, we will take off a little bit of enamel from your teeth. This allows space for the porcelain veneers and enhances the bond for a more natural outcome that lasts a long time. When your veneers are bonded, we can make minor adjustments so your veneers fit well.
NowDental of Suffolk Reviews
Three weeks ago, my bonding fell off while I was out. I called the office immediately and made an appointment. I saw a dentist (whom I don’t remember the name of, but does not work there anymore) He literally came in, threw a chunk of bonding on my tooth and overcharged me for the amount of composite & labor he put into his work. I did not want to be late for work and since I work with the public I accepted anything that would of made my tooth look okay from a far. A couple of weeks went by and I finally had an opening in my schedule, so I sent them an email about how unhappy I was. They answered me that same day and we made an appointment for me to come in. Just a side note: I am no stranger to bonding, I have had it for several years. I am familiar with how much time, composite, contouring, and cost goes into it.I met Dr. Hertzog for the first time and he did impeccable work. He did not just shave down the composite to blend with the rest of my tooth. Instead he added composite, length, thickness and the contouring to my tooth. I love it! I am getting porcelain veneers in the near future and if I’m still in New York, I will definitely go back to him.

What is Recovering from Porcelain Veneers Like?
Since getting cosmetic veneers usually does not require anesthesia, you should be able to continue your daily tasks after your appointment. You might experience some sensitivity to cold and hot food for a few days, but this should subside naturally. Your veneers should be cleaned like your own natural teeth with frequent brushing and flossing. While porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains compared to your natural enamel, you still need to avoid staining foods and drinks to keep your smile nice and bright. To prevent harming your veneers, you shouldn't chew on hard objects, such as ice or your fingernails. Continue to go to dental exams and cleanings at NowDental of Suffolk so that we can track the condition of your cosmetic veneers, natural teeth, and overall oral health. During these visits, we will let you know if your veneers will need to be replaced or repaired.
Does Insurance Cover Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are a cosmetic treatment so they are typically not included in dental insurance. NowDental of Suffolk does take many payment options, such as medical financing, to make your treatment more affordable. At your consult, we will customize your treatment to meet your goals, as well as your budget. We will discuss a quote for your veneers and explore your payment choices.
